Hey There
Read below about me and my journey to becoming a proofreader.
All About Me
I have been an avid reader ever since I could remember. The first book that I can remember devouring was "Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase." As I got older, I started reading V.C. Andrews and romance novels. I read so much and so fast, that my Momma decided at that point that she couldn't afford to buy all the books that I wanted. We quickly started using the library. One summer in high school, I remember reading over 100 books. It was always a struggle to pull me away from the worlds that I become engrossed in.
In high school, I was lucky enough to have very strict but talented English and Literature teachers. I learned so much from them that it made writing papers in college actually easy. Their lessons still stay with me.
Today, I live not far from where I grew up in Georgia (ugh, the heat!) in the south-eastern U.S, I'm married to a man I've been with since 2001, have an adult step-son, whom I adore, and a teenage daughter....I love her to death, I really do! Seriously, I love my little family and would be lost without them.
We have 3 dogs and 2 cats....my husband has threatened divorce if I bring home another animal. lol I love to foster pets, but these 5 are ours to keep. I have raised many kittens from a bottle and taken in so many stray dogs until I could find their fur-ever home. My Momma used to do same thing. She raised not only cats and dogs, but cows, horses, goats, pigs, squirrels, birds, a raccoon, a skunk, and even a deer. Most of the animals that she raised were without a mother, so she stepped in to give them a chance at a good life. In the past, my family has had ferrets, guinea pigs, hamsters, and fish. I just love furry beasts and one day hope to have a pet raccoon.
Sometime around 2019, I started beta reading for fan-fiction authors on a popular website. This progressed and I did beta and ARC reading for indie authors. The first proofreading job that I did was for an author from a another country who wrote as if she was from the U.S. I did a lot of consulting with her on cultural differences, as well as proofreading and copy editing her work. Her book was over 100 long but enthralling chapters.
Just a few of my favorite books are "the Notebook", "Harry Potter" (all of them), "Twilight" (all of them), the "Hidden Legends" universe, and many more. My favorite genres are romance, fantasy, and young adult, this is why I specialize in them.
Please feel free to drop me an email if you have any questions, I will be happy to assist.
Take care and I hope to hear from you soon!
